Young Researcher’s Symposium

Researcher Symposium

The ASM Young Researcher’s Symposium Switzerland, is a collaboration between the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), the Institute for Food Safety and Hygiene, University of Zurich and the Swiss Society for Food Hygiene (SGLH). This unique event targets undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate researchers from Switzerland in all fields of microbiology. The idea behind it is to share research, interact and possibly foster collaborations between groups that share common interests or resources. The core aim is to enhance data exchange and improve early-career scientists presentation skills by affording them the platform to share their project ideas and latest results. Participants will get input and feedback from peers possibly improving their presentation skills and getting new insights to improve their research. We hope that this event will further encourage and foster networking, collaboration, and resource sharing.

A keynote lecture will be given by an expert in the field of Covid 19. Presenter prizes for the oral and poster sessions will be awarded to the best presenters as defined by a jury, and the most popular presenter overall as defined by the audience. During the event and at the end there will be open-ended online mixer opportunities to further network.

Be part of this first-of-a-kind online meeting uniting the young microbial scientists throughout Switzerland.

The event is organized by Dr. med. vet Francis Muchaamba (PhD student at the Institute for Food Safety and Hygiene, University of Zurich and ASM Young Ambassador to Switzerland) and Danai Etter (PhD student at the Institute for Food Safety and Hygiene, University of Zurich and representative for SGLH).
